Essential Duties:

  • Sells parts to all customers, over the counter, through the shop, or on the phone. 
  • Assists all customers (retail and shop) in selecting required parts in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner.        
  •  Informs customers of companion part requirements and ensures that the customer is exposed to the full product line.
  • Answers phone calls, provide price quotes, and other information in a courteous and cheerful manner.
  • Assists technicians at the back counter.
  • Reviews body shop estimates to ensure correct parts are ordered and estimate is accurate.
  • Pulls and fills orders from stock.
  •  Notifies parts manager of out-of-stock parts or shop materials that need immediate attention.
  • Locates out-of-stock parts from outside source and submits an emergency order, if necessary.
  • Notifies the service advisor and the customer when special ordered parts have been received.
  • Notifies the body shop when all parts have arrived and when they will be delivered.
  •   Pulls orders for delivery to body shop, making sure all parts are tagged with customer names and job number.
  • Follows up on back-ordered parts.
  • Replenishes assigned inventory daily.
  • Assists outside sales representatives with their orders.
  • Makes sure all internal requests for parts are billed on service repair order.
  • Receives payment from retail customers or obtains credit authorization
  •  Ensures that all charge sales are signed by the customer.
  • Issues credit for parts returned, ensuring that the original invoice, or its number, is available so that purchase and pricing can be verified.
  • Keeps orderly records of all repair orders, invoices, insurance estimates, and special-order parts.
  •  Sets up orders for daily shipment, delivery, or pick-up.
  • Solicits assigned accounts by phone.
  • Keeps front and rear counter areas clean and uncluttered.
  • Cleans computer terminals and printers daily.
  • Participates in all training programs that are made available.
  • Keeps current on new products and product updates.
  • Participates with the parts manager in maintaining a lost sales tracking program.

Essential Duties:
  • Replaces oil and air filters.
  • Drains oil from crankcase and refills with required amount of oil.
  • Inspects vehicle fluid levels, replaces, or replenishes as necessary.
  • Sells lubrication, safety inspection, and other related services.
  • Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.
  • Lubricates moving parts with specified lubricants.
  • Checks tire pressure and adds air if needed.
  • Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance. with dealership and factory standards.
  • Documents all work performed on the repair order.
  • Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs as assigned by service manager.
  • Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
  • Reports any safety issues immediately to management.

Essential Duties:
  • Schedules service appointments.
  • Obtains customer and vehicle data and reviews vehicle history prior to customers' arrival, when possible.
  • Greets customers in a timely, friendly manner, including handshake, and obtains vehicle information.
  • Writes up customer's vehicle problems accurately and clearly on repair order.
  • Interviews/questions customer as needed to confirm the problem or refers to test technician, or if necessary, has the shop foreman drive with the customer.
  • Refers to service history, inspects vehicle including opening of the hood, and recommends additional needed service.
  • Advises customers on the care of their cars and the value of maintaining their vehicles in accordance with manufacturers' specifications.
  • Provides a complete and accurate written cost estimate for labor and parts, provided by the technician.
  • Establishes "promised time."
  • Checks with dispatcher, as needed.
  • Obtains customer signatures on repair order; provides customer with a copy, including estimate on Customer Pay repairs.
  • Notifies dispatcher of incoming work.
  • Checks on progress of repair throughout the day.
  • Contacts customers regarding any changes in the estimate or promised time, explains cost and time requirements in detail, and gets proper authorization before any additional repairs are performed, and properly documents up sell information on the hard copy and in the computer.
  • Implements and maintains a service marketing program.
  • Reviews repair orders to ensure that work is completed and additional work and authorization is noted.
  • Keeps service department forms, menus and pricing guides up-to-date.
  • Explains completed work and all charges to customers.
  • Maintains high customer satisfaction standards.
  • Handles telephone inquiries regarding appointments and work in process.
  • Inspects all vehicles for body work, informs customer at the time of write-up, if work is needed and provides an estimate for body work.
  • Requires excessive walking to access customer parking and service repair shop
  • Requires valid driver's license to drive and port vehicles to park in line up for service repair or aid in dealership valet service

  • Marginal Duties:
    • Observes parking lot and local speed limits.

Essential Duties:
  • Maintain neat and presentable dealership parking lot.
  • Exhibit safe driving skills.
  • Move vehicles between the dealership's display area, workshop, storage facility, and the pick-up point.
  • Manage and account for all cars on the lot.
  • Maintain interior and exterior cleanliness of vehicles on the lot.
  • Off-site dealership errands when required.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks; changing batteries, filling gas tanks, oil, and other fluids.
Car Porter Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Dealership experience preferred but not necessary.
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record.
  • Willingness to learn and perform a wide range of allocated tasks.
  • Ability to take accurate notes regarding vehicle movements and vehicle conditions.
